Live Data
Bring live options and stock data straight into Excel from your own Charles Schwab connection — as ordinary worksheet functions you can drop anywhere. Strictly read-only, bring-your-own credentials, stored encrypted on your PC.
Everything is a plain Excel function — drop it in any cell and feed your
own dashboards. The naming tells you what it does:
Live_ means it moves; no Live_ is a fixed snapshot.
Streaming — real time
Tick-by-tick over one shared connection.
Snapshot — one fetch, cached
Values that don't move tick-to-tick.
The same functions power the Watchlist and the live options surfaces — snapshot to find a trade, stream to watch it.
Here's the Research Watchlist doing exactly that — its whole return grid recalculating off a live last price:
You register your own Schwab developer app and bring its credentials; StrategyXL drives the sign-in in your browser and stores the tokens encrypted on your machine (Windows DPAPI). Nothing routes through a StrategyXL server. StrategyXL only ever calls Schwab's market-data endpoints — a transport-level allow-list blocks anything else before a request is ever sent, and there is no order or account endpoint anywhere in the product. "StrategyXL cannot place a trade" is a guarantee, not a promise.
Your license covers two PCs, and that's untouched by the Schwab connection. Snapshot functions work on both machines at once. Live streaming, though, is one machine at a time — Schwab allows a single streaming connection per account:
Stream on one PC at a time; switching machines drops the other and may prompt a reconnect.
It's friction, not breakage — connecting on a second PC ends the first one's live stream, and coming back may ask you to reconnect in the browser (the same quick step Schwab already asks for when its login periodically expires). Your license is never affected.
Live Data is one of the two features an optional annual renewal keeps current — it's free right now, and renewal begins with a future release. See pricing for the full picture.
Not $165 to $2,400 every year. An optional annual renewal keeps the research and live-data feeds current — everything else is yours to keep.
StrategyXL is a research and testing tool — everything it shows is raw material for your own analysis, not a signal service and not financial advice.
StrategyXL is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. "Charles Schwab" is a trademark of its respective owner.
